What happened to summer? For me it felt very short. July was busy and most of August was not what I planned earlier in the year. Now, almost Labor Day with leaves falling I am thinking of antenna projects and the fall hamfests I would like to attend. I also would like to try making a legit effort on ARRL November Sweepstakes contest. Cold temperatures will be here soon enough so I better get moving! In the mean time. . . it’s still technically summer for a few more weeks so let’s get out and enjoy hamming while our fingers are not frozen.

See you soon, Ron

New Faces

Our August meeting brought us Ben-KFØSEB from Prescott
and Bill-KDØKKU that was at Bucyrus and became lost.
He’s now near Parker. Welcome to Mine Creek ARC.

Picnic

Our annual picnic is September 13 at LaCygne City Park,
South First St. in LaCygne. Sit down time I believe is 1PM.
This is a carry-in/pot luck affair. Peggy and Pat have offered
to smoke pork or maybe beef. Be thinking about what you can bring.
We paid the 40$ reservation fee and have the shelter all day.
There was discussion of bringing toys such as radio set ups and antenna installation tools to demo. Feel free to come early and play.

Hamfest

Mine Creek Hamfest is on the calendar for February 7, 2026.
The 4H building has been reserved. We will need members to
set up tables Friday nite and tear down Saturday around 1P.
Also will need members to sell door prize tickets at the door
and help drawing the tickets throughout the morning.

New Officers

At the August meeting Gary-KFØNXN suggested it was time
to employ a more formal leadership for the club.
Other club members went along with that way of thinking.
Gary put up Ron-DTI for president. That went down all right
so the nominations continued with Peggy-XD as VP,
Chris-KFØUPC Secretary and Gary-NXN as Treasurer.
There’s our leadership. Ron is also call sign trustee.
I guess we’ll be doing some Robert’s Rules occasionally.

Farm Report

Chris-KFØUPC at the meeting asked if it would be allright
to use his Echolink node to offer that mode of access for 147.285/R.
A couple of members thought it was a good thing to try.
Chris has the node operating from his home station now.
Down load the Echolink application on your hand held computer
and give it a try.

Peggy now has a traditional half-wave dipole from which to
fling radiation into the ether. Seems to be working well.
Something was wrong with the off-center fed thing she originally installed.

If you’re not on the air what can we do to get you going?
