Summer is over, the weather is changing and cold will soon be upon us. Are you ready to harvest QSOs ? You are going to be indoors spending more time in your shack talking with people and listening more than the warmer half of the year. Is your operating position comfortable and efficient for making contacts? Have you decided on logging software? There are many flavors from which to choose.
Is your antenna system ready to receive the frigidness of eastern Kansas? Are the connections sealed properly? Do you have a way to power your station when the utility is not available? Have you checked it recently, do you KNOW it works? Have you been on the air with it? September was preparedness month but being ready can be practiced all year long.
Time to prepare for the indoor ham season.

Picnic
We had a good turnout for our picnic again this year. A little warm but always breezy. The food was fantastic as usual. Peggy brought out her loop antenna field package picked up at Joplin. You can see the antenna in one of the pictures. I believe it’s an AlexLoop. Later in the afternoon Chris, Ron and Curtis put up a 20 meter sloping dipole and eventually made contact with EI7M in Ireland using Ron’s IC-706. Sure it’s a club station but it’s still Ireland. Maybe it will be slightly cooler for our next picnic.

If you’re not on the air what can we do to get you going?
